Training and Experience

When you’re looking for a therapist - especially during grief, loss, or crisis - you want to know you’re in safe hands.

You want someone warm and human, yes.

But also someone with the experience to sit with pain, uncertainty, trauma, and emotional overwhelm without needing to rush in, fix, or look away.

My work is grounded in both professional training and real-world experience supporting people through some of life’s most difficult moments.

Professional Experience

Alongside private practice, I have worked extensively in grief, bereavement, and crisis support settings.

Treetops Hospice

I support individuals and families affected by bereavement and life-limiting illness, working alongside people navigating anticipatory grief, complex loss, and end-of-life experiences.

Cruse Bereavement Support

As a bereavement volunteer, I have supported individuals processing grief and loss in all its forms, offering compassionate space during deeply difficult times.

Derbyshire Mind

In my crisis support role, I work with individuals experiencing acute emotional distress, anxiety, overwhelm, and mental health crisis.

This experience has deepened my understanding of trauma, emotional regulation, and the importance of feeling genuinely heard and supported.

Training and Qualifications

  • Level 5 Diploma / Advanced Training in Psychotherapy & Counselling
  • Qualified Hypnotherapist
  • Mental Health First Aid Trained
  • Ongoing Continuing Professional Development in grief, trauma & bereavement
  • Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)
  • Member of the National Hypnotherapy Society

My Approach

Qualifications matter - but so does how therapy feels. I aim to offer a space that feels safe, grounded, and genuinely human.

A space where you can bring the messy, painful, complicated parts of your experience without judgment.

You do not need to arrive with the right words or everything figured out.

We simply begin where you are.

Check out what clients say

'Laura was fantastic, and it was great having the space to talk, not just about losing my partner, but the day-to-day challenges of bringing up our girls without her. Laura is really perceptive, and she pulled me up on some of my patterns and thinking, which has improved a lot for me'

'Laura was fantastic, really helped me in stages of grief and understanding around this'

'Absolutely fantastic. Listened, challenged me when necessary and helped me see that grief amplifies the rest of life's struggles in an unprecedented way. The most understanding person I've spoken to in the two years since I experienced traumatic grief'
